About the Cover Designer

Well, you found me! Good work, I'm pretty sure it wasn't that easy. I'm Richard Sutton and I've been a commercial graphic designer since the days of marker pens and India ink. Since 1976, and sporadically for a number of years before that. Working for a wide variety of clients, from mattress stores to aerospace manufacturers, I learned my craft on the job.

When the time came to turn to digital imaging, I purchased a Tandy-made IBM PC clone and got to work with something called Windows and Adobe. Through the years I've kept the tools sharp and clean. I've also added to the arsenal as needed, to keep as current as possible with the State of the Art, despite still preferring PCs over Steve Jobs' brilliant designs. It's much easier to work on systems I can replace and rebuild as necessary.  I prefer design that evolves from need rather than design that dictates.

My flexible approach also works for fingerstyle guitar picking and my lifelong love of nature and animals. I look forward to working with you on future projects and getting to know you as a friend. If you use Facebook, you can find me there clicking on the image of the old guy with the white beard and guitar, when my name comes up in a search. I'm also always happy to answer questions about the process, during the process, or afterwards. Even if you decide to go it alone or with a different designer/illustrator. Talking I can always do!
